Frequently Asked Questions
For first time buyers and seasoned pro's,
each have questions when it comes to making
a purchase decision. The guy that is at the
top of his game may need to spend upwards of
$4000 or more, but we're looking
more to the mainstream everyday models that
are more in line with our own financial
abilities. One thought to keep in mind is
that we may be spending much less, but
expectation about the
production quality on the pockets bikes
destined for North America should still be
pretty high.
Frequently Asked Questions:
Should I go Gas or Electric?
Choosing whether you want to go gas or electric largely depends on the
amount of effort you want to put into your bike. If you're going for a
mini-chopper, I'd recommend going gas-powered, because it's a better
reflection of the real deal. However if you just want a little low
maintenance toy to play around with, electric will be better for you.
Electric will also be more beneficial if you're buying for someone young,
because they probably won't want to deal with anything more difficult than
charging up batteries. Whichever you pick, you're bound to have a good time,
but make sure you buy at a maintenance level you can handle.
What cc level do I want?
What cc level you'll want largely depends on how fast you want to go. If
you're buying for someone young and inexperienced, it's probably better to
buy a 49cc bike, and even then they should have supervision when riding just
to be safe. If you're older, and likely also heavier, you'll want a more
powerful bike, like a 125cc or higher. Good luck, and happy bike hunting!
How do I Make my Bike Street-legal?
Depending on where you live - State, Province, etc. there will be
different regulations regarding miniature pocket bikes. In order to make
your bike legal in most places you will require on the most basic level side
mirrors and some kind of signal lights. If you want to know more about what
you'll have to do to get your bike street legal, you should contact your
local municipal or state government to check out the specific regulations.
